From the early years, footbag has been a male dominated activity and sport and yet the women of the sport are as talented as their male counterparts in many ways and they each bring a spirit of competition highlighted with grace and cooperation.
Early pioneers like Lori Jean Conover were instrumental in blazing the trail for other women to display their talents and love for their chosen sport.
“The Women of Footbag” have helped to legitimize and to promote footbag to the public since the 1970s and are honored by their peers as Hall of Fame players and promoters.
Pioneers including Lori Jean Conover, Jane Wievesek, Cheryl Aubin Hughes, Rita Buckley and Tricia George were the front runners in showing the world that footbag is a sport that women can excel at – not just their male counterparts.
