Yves Archambault

I started to play footbag in 1981. In the following year, I launched the AKI trademark in Quebec (a province of Canada). Then, in 1985 I went to my first tournament in Colorado. That's when I discovered Footbag Net. I, then, frantically practiced to get better and eventually win a World Championship.

The same year, I launched the Pro Kicker trademark (https://prokicker.ca). I finally attained my goal with a doubles win at the 2001 World Footbag Championships.

I added one in 2003, as well as showing durability by winning at least one open title for 20 years in a row (1989 to 2008).

My last open footbag tournament was the 2021 Akisphere in Montreal.

As an organizer and promoter of the game, I organized the Montreal tournaments from 1989 to 2008, including 3 famous World Championships (1996, 1998 and 2004). The 1996 edition was the first Worlds held outside of USA.

I also promote the fun Brazilian game PETECA (https://peteca.net) which is kind of footbag but with the hands, using a colorful shuttlecock. I also consider myself one of the archivists of the game as I filmed a lot of footbag tournaments finals. You can see some of my work on this page: https://prokicker.ca/videos as well as possibly donating to this project. Some of my takes on these tournaments can be found on http://www.footbagarchives.com

I'm also promoting Mini Kick Volley which is a smaller court version of Footbag Net, info about this is also available on my Pro Kicker website.

Keep on kicking
