Scott Cleere

Hacky Sack found Scott Cleere in 1979 when Mark Paulin introduced him to footbag at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO. Mark shared the circle game with Bill Bethurum and Scott, forming a continuing group for kicking.

They were instantly hooked on this marvelous game that blended their love of tennis, dance and cooperative play. Scott and Bill formed a partnership (inspired by freestyle Frisbee team ‘The Coloradicals’ called The Colorado Footboltz and would later include Randy Nelson.

Scott’s first competition was the Colorado State Championships in Boulder, CO in 1980.

Creative Athletics was the synthesis of years of school assemblies, promotions, competitions and became Scott’s livelihood from 1990 to the present.

The sport and company evolved over the many years, providing the school assembly experience that led some players to having great footbag careers of their own.

Scott is very thankful for what footbag has given him; a career as an athlete, promoter, coach, partner, business owner, and most importantly a husband to his wife Deborah and father to his sons Jeremy and Noah.

Scott Cleere influenced thousands of people over the years, and for this, he was inducted into the Footbag Hall of Fame.
