The perpetually positive Jimmy Caveney turned me on to competitive footbag the early 1980's when he visited San Francisco State University and joined a circle kick in front of the Student Union and told me about the World Footbag Association, I signed up: WFA Member number 323!

I went to Boulder, CO for the 1984 Training Camp and Championships where I met my future husband, Kenny Shults. In 1990 I moved to Portland to grow roots and family.

The talented Mag Hughes handed me the US Open to run in the early 1990's and I put that event together from 1992 to 1999. Inspired by my husband's infinite patience, Lisa Monti, Becca English-Ross, Constance Constable, Heather Cook and many more lovely ladies I even landed a few World's third place finishes in freestyle, consecutive and net events.

In 1992 (Paul Vorvick is Member No. 1) I started Sole Purpose Footbag Club and a newsletter to create a volunteer base for running practices and tournaments.

In the 1990's I organized a few Heart of Footbag Freestyle events (a vehicle for Tricia and Paul's world records) and footbag became an official event of the State Games of Oregon.

Sole Purpose brought the 1997 World Footbag Championships to Portland, and the kick off for the first Footbag Hall of Fame brought the old and new players together in joy. The 1997 Worlds had the most prize money ($17,000+) and competitors (208) so far!

Exactly 20 years later Sole Purpose Footbag Club held the 2017 Worlds again, this time indoors at the Oregon Convention Center. What an amazing reunion.

I love my footbag family. May we continue in love, health and happiness.
